Why Hippotherapy?

Horses create three-dimensional movement that mimics the movement of the human pelvis with increased intensity and repetition. This dynamic movement has not been replicated in any other clinical setting. It allows for improvements in balance, strength, coordination, and muscle tone. The equine movement also stimulates numerous body systems that are vital for overall health (i.e. vestibular, nervous, circulatory, and digestive systems). The natural environment and equine activities also serve to challenge a variety of skills such as motor planning, sensory processing, and communication.
